Guardian releases list of the 100 most influential people in the music industry
They influence the song you wake up to and the tune you whistle as you walk to work – you may not necessarily know their names but they are the among the most important music trendsetters in the country.
Today the Guardian reveals its Music Power 100 list: the most influential people creating, promoting, managing and making money from music.
Topping the list is Team Adele, an astonishing achievement for the 23-year-old singer and the crack squad behind her. Adele, the girl from London with a big voice, has rewritten the music rule book this year with the stratospheric success of her second album, 21. It has topped the US album charts seven times and has spent 15 of the last 17 weeks at number one in the UK. In an industry that increasingly struggles to sell its physical product, Adele has managed to shift no fewer than 6m copies for independent record label XL.
Label founder Richard Russell said Adele was a "special artist" who had conquered the world with talent alone. "The whole message with her is, it's just music. There's no gimmicks, there's no selling of sexuality," he said.
The choice of Team Adele – which includes manager Jonathan Dickins, publisher Paul Connolly and radio plugger Brad Hunner – to head the chart was unanimous, said Cerne Canning, part of the list's voting panel, which included experts from the music industry.
"Adele is the most powerful force in music at the moment," he said. "It is very refreshing to see something so successful done in such a sensitive way."

[NEWS] Tinchy Stryder To Perform Champions League Final Opening Ceremony
Tinchy Stryder will break new ground once again this weekend by being the first rapper to ever open the biggest club match in the world, the Champions League Final
Tinchy Stryder may well be a million plus selling pop star whose new single Spaceship featuring Dappy just shot into the Radio 1 A-List but more important to the rapper is the fact that he’s a Manchester United fan so it’s not hard to believe that tomorrow’s Champions League Final was already going to be nerve-wracking enough without being the first rapper and contemporary artist to ever open the biggest club football match of the season.
Tinchy will perform a special self-penned version of the UEFA Champions League ceremony song for the clash between Barcelona and his beloved Manchester United at Wembley Stadium before kick-off. The event is expected to be watched by a massive 160Million people around the world as well as 90,000 in the stadium.
Of the opportunity to perform at Wembley, Hat-Trick Strydes offered “I love football and the Champions League final is one of the biggest footballing events“ says continuing, “I’ve always been a Manchester United fan so this match is even more special to me. I am honoured that UEFA asked me to perform at the opening ceremony, and I can’t wait to see the game.”

[NEWS] Taio Cruz Wins Big at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards
Taio Cruz was all smiles at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, celebrated annually to honor the most popular stars in music. The awards ceremony, held at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas, Nev. aired on ABC at 8pm Sunday night.
Cruz’s “Dynamite” got the award for the “Hot 100 Song of the Year” which ranked number one on Billboard’s charts for an impressive 46 weeks.
“This is the first time I have received an award and come up here to receive it,” said Cruz as he held his award up high in the air triumphantly.
“So I am very, very nervous right now. But, I would like to thank my manager… my record company… my label in the UK, my publisher, my friends and family and of course all of my fans. Thank you very much.”

Wiley told his twitter followers that he thinks Chipmunk is better than Maxsta. But of course many people disagree with this, in the past Maxsta and Chipmunk have had their share of problems and grime heads still to this day feel that Chippy has sold out unlike Maxsta. Wiley claims Maxsta is good but he just isn't in the league of Chipmunk or Ice kid who hasn't been on the scene recently.

[NEWS] Plan B Struggling to break the US
BRIT winner Plan B is having a tough time cracking America because radio stations refuse to play his music!
The 'She Said' singer and rapper told the Daily Star that he's finding tough to catch a break in America because radio stations find his music and looks don't match.
Plan B, who was awarded three Ivor Novello awards yesterday, told the newspaper: "I can't get radio play in the States. The black stations feel I'm too white and white stations feel I'm too black, so they want me to go out and do all these meet-and-greets."
The 27-year-old, who recently said he wouldn't tone down his Britishness for American audiences, also revealed his excitement on working on the remake of The Sweeney and his plans to revamp the Sweeney soundtrack.
He added: "I'm hoping to play around with the old theme tune. Before that me and Ray are gonna bond in a boozer."

[NEWS] Tinie Tempah + Pharrell = Music Magic?
Tinie Tempah has revealed that he’s been in the studio with Pharrell Williams and Stargate working on the follow-up this international smash album Disc-Overy.
Tinie Tempah could actually be the first UK artist to travel to the US and actually accomplish crossover rap success history, something we’re all confident he can do. While Tinie being away is a definite downer, the upside to having him in the US, making noise and winning fans, is he gets to meet some of the biggest American talent who want to work with him, names such as Pharrell Williams, who Tinie Tempah says he’s been in the studio with working on his next album.
Speaking from the US, Tinie said he’s already started work on the project which also features production from Stargate but says he’s planning to take his time on the project. Tinie also revealed that he’d like to work with Lykke Li, Sleigh Bells, Adele, Jay-Z and Kanye West. We can expect to hear new music by september after all his album singles drop.

[NEWS] Aggro Santos arrested over Chichester rape claim
Brazilian-born rapper and a former contestant on I'm a Celebrity has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a university gig in West Sussex. Aggro Santos, 22, whose first name is Yuri, and a 20-year-old man have been arrested and bailed until June pending inquiries. The performer's lawyer said his client strongly denied the allegations. Sussex Police said the arrests followed an incident at Chichester's Ship Hotel in the early hours of Saturday. A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Two men aged 20 and 22, both from London, were arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident at the Ship Hotel in Chichester in the early hours of Saturday morning. "They were later bailed until June 20." Debut single Santos's solicitor Phil Smith, of Tuckers Solicitors, said: "At this stage, this is purely an allegation which has been, and is, vehemently denied by my client." A spokesman for the University of Chichester said: "It is a fact that Aggro Santos played at the University of Chichester Students' Union earlier in the evening. "However, due to criminal investigations taking place, it is not appropriate for the university to comment further on these allegations at this time." Santos's debut single, Candy, reached number five in the UK charts last year. Last year, he also appeared in ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in which he made it to the final six. |

[NEWS] Urban Acts Join T in the Park
Professor Green, Chipmunk and Wretch 32 are among the urban acts added to this year's T in the Park line-up
They join recently announced US singer Beyonce and headliners Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters.
The festival takes place at Balado in Kinross-shire between 8-10 July.
"T in the Park was one of the few festivals that I didn't get to play last year," said Professor Green. "I love Scotland so I was delighted to get an invite to perform."
He added: "Scottish crowds go mad and they are really receptive. I look forward to bringing my band, all the hits and having a beer."
Other artists confirmed for the festival include Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, My Chemical Romance, Pendulum, Labrinth, White Lies, The Script, Pulp and The Saturdays.
Organisers say luxury Residence packages are still available for the weekend.
The bill also includes Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye, blink-182, Brandon Flowers, Jimmy Eat World and Miles Kane.
KT Tunstall, The Vaccines, Noah and the Whale, House Of Pain, Eliza Doolittle and Ke$ha are among other acts who have been named.
